Greetings!

I am in the process of moving to L.A. and am considering an apartment in the Miracle Mile area. The only downside is that it doesn't come with a parking space. Alas, I was hoping to find some thoughts about how the street parking is in the neighborhood. I'm a single gal, and I worry about safety and availability if I come home too late.

Any opinions would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

Lightbulb Street parking

I live in the Miracle Mile area, but have underground parking. If you have to park on the street and you come home late, you may end up having to park a block away. The spaces fill up pretty quickly. The parking permits also only allow you to park on your block, and maybe around the corner, so you can't even park legally 2 blocks away.

Also, parking enforcement drives around 24/7. I have seen them give tickets at midnight.
Parking is around $22-25 every 3 months for visitor parking passes.

But the area is safe. There are always people walking around. I can walk my dog at 1am an still run into other people walking their dog!

Hope this helps.

It's safe, but you might not get parking if returning home late at night! Street parking is very difficult in the area, some streets are just always full all the time.

Having lived in the Miracle Mile, I can say that it will get very tiring very fast and you will go through a few phases...first demanding your landlord give you an assigned parking spot (even though there isn't one) and then counting the days when your lease is up so you can move. I was fortunate to have a situation where a tenant moved out who had a spot and I pleaded with the landlord to give me the spot for extra rent money. But for those months I didn't have a spot, it was horrible.

Plus, when you want to have family or friends over, you have to buy extra passes so they can park on your street (that is if they can even find a parking space). That area of LA is just so densely populated and getting worse with the new apartments springing up everywhere. Miracle Mile is relatively safe. It's not amazingly safe. My partner got mugged by a homeless guy there, so FYI. Also, walking down Wilshire during the day can sometimes be unsettling especially when a homeless guy takes a dump right in front of you. Ahh good times.
