My wife recently got a new job in Woodland Hills and I work in Temple City near Pasadena. We are trying to figure out the best city to relocate from Rancho Cucamonga. Here are some options.

A) Would be better to live in Pasadena and she commute west to Woodland Hills.
B) Should we live in Woodland Hills and I commute east to Temple City.
C) Or should we consider moving to a halfway point like Burbank and both commute.

We both would be commuting during rush hour and both need our cars for work so metro lines are not an option. Any information on the 101 to 134 to 210 east commute vs. the 210 to 134 to 101 west commute would be great.

Thanks

i would say commuting TO and FROM woodland hills during rush hours will be good as those are times the majority of people are trying to do the opposite.

Check Sigalert.com - Personalized Traffic Reports during the times you expect to commute. Check it on several days and get lots of data points. That should give you a good idea of the worst directions of travel.

I live in woodland hills for 10 years and its hell hot there in the summer. It is the hotest place in all of the SF valley. I disagree with Fantasm as the traffic on the 101 east or west bound is crazy. Everyone is living in the suburbs and all commuting to LA. The 101 is packed at rush hour both eastbound or westbound, especially around the 405 interchange.

Living in WHs and commuting to east temple city is crazy. It will take you 1-1.5 hours in rush hour.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I figured the 101 to 134 eastbound or westbound would probably be a nightmare either way. i already commute 1 hour to work and my wife drives about 30 minutes so 1 hour is doable but we would really like to keep our drive times between 45 minutes to 1 hour each way to work.

Would living in Burbank be a good halfway point for us? Keep our drive manageable?

If you live near the 210 freeway like La Crescenta\ Sunland\ Tujunga you would be able to cut over to Woodland Hills on the 118 [much less traffic than the 134 or 101]. Also the commute into Temple City would be fine since most traffic is heading west toward Los Angeles.
