Manhattan Beach - travel by bike?

Moving there, I think. I hoping it the type of place I can ride my bike to get coffee or shop? I have not driven in years,a nd although I will be driving, I would like to keep it to a minimum. Also on a map, where are the good areas to live to be here the main strips?

Thanx!
Gretel

Do you like riding up hills, hills, and more hills?

I am not that aware of the geography of the area. So you are saying it Not at all bike friendly?

Manhattan Beach is very bike friendly on the west side. First, there is the "Strand" that runs from Torrance Beach all the way up to Marina del Rey on the beach. Highland Ave. is also a major thoroughfare through the west side. Not exactly bike friendly, but there are so many bikers on that street that motorists watch out for them. So if you're planning to reside on the west side of MB, it has everything that you're looking for.

Lifetime Manhattan Beach resident here. You can ride your bike all over Manhattan Beach. There are some hills, but lot's of bikers do just fine with them.

There is a saying in Manhattan Beach. "There is no life East of Sepulveda." So if you are looking for a place to live and wish to be where the action is, look for a home West of Sepulveda Boulevard.

Downtown Manhattan Beach is full of trendy shops and restaurants. And there is a Starbuck's in the middle of downtown.

My saying is, "There is nothing affordable West of Sepulveda." In all seriousness though, Manhattan Beach is very bikeable and a fantastic place all around.

I used to work in the area, and noticed that west of Sepulveda is yuppie-ish, whilst east of Sepulveda is redneck. There are, or course, some crossovers and the east side is experiencing a mini-renaissance, though the basic premise still holds.

I have never heard the word redneck and Manhattan Beach in the same sentence before. And I never noticed any difference between anyone living on either side of Sepulveda. I see no changes in the East side. So I guess I have to say your post makes no sense to me.

Are you referring to Manhattan Beach, CA? If so, have you seen all of it? I have, because I previously performed real estate related work there.

Yes, I can say with absolute certainty that over the past 56 years, I have seen all 4 square miles of this city. I am one of the very few natives left in this beach town. And my DH and I own commercial and residential real estate here.

I have seen all the changes over the years. Some good, some bad. I guess it just depends on your outlook.

I am interested in hearing about who the redneck's are you mentioned in your previous post.
