Better to live in a nice part of town like Hancock Park area. Why put yourself through all that stress?

Its all about the schools for my son. I'm looking for a Christian school for him and Oaks Christian School is at the top of our list in terms of a good fit for him. And that dictates for the most part where we live.

That's why I posted my reply above with a different theory. I never heard of the 3500-4000 thing either. Lots of people don't even have a tachometer, and yet more people don't even know what the hell it is.

Another contributing cause is that smaller cars often don't have enough oomph to get up a fairly steep grade, like for example the 118 freeway in Chatsworth climbing up the hill towards Simi Valley. Some people don't notice that they're going slower, and some people don't give a damn if they slow down traffic.

They don't have to be small, just "underpowered".

My truck falls into this category. 3300 lbs empty with 120hp, so you can imagine what happens when I actually have cargo. It may just be a matter of time before some idiot decides to rear end me for accelerating too slowly; prolly doesn't help that 1st is geared short and usually I'd already be in 2nd halfway into the intersection.

Back to the original topic ... 1-2 hours each way is what I'd figure. Both the 405 and 101 are bad.

2 hours would probably be your minimum commute from the TO area to the miracle mile/beverly center area. a coworker of mine lives in westlake village and commutes to century city and it takes him atleast an hour to and from work on most days. there is no freeway accesss to the area where your office will be so you'll have to add another 20-30 minutes each way to your commute. a better place to look might be valley village or burbank. i'm sure there are good private schools in the valley for your kids and you won't be nearly as far away from work.

That's a REALLY good description!
