I was "flashed" once when making a legal right turn at the yellow light. It has been 6+ months and no tickets yet. I think some smart body looks at them before issuing the $$$ ticket.

Yes, there is nothing to worry about.

Let this be a lesson to you. Immediately go down to the DMV and demand they give you a front plate. Then promptly put it in your trunk

arent you technically supposed to have front plates in CA? is this because of the cameras? i dont know why, but i definetely noticed it flashed twice- about 1 or 2 seconds apart

Yes, you are supposed to have a front plate because the camera takes a picture of your plate and a 2nd picture of you. Since you don't have the front plate, all they have is a picture of you.

Supposedly they are updating systems to include a back shot, but I dont think its in California yet. There were several months where the cameras were taking pictures but not storing the data due to contractual issues with via LA & the vendor.
