I am moving to studio city next weekend and I am a little intimidated by all of the traffic! I am living right on Ventura blvd and need to get to the Westfield Mall in Century city. I work rush hour shifts and heard that the alternative routes are to go over the canyon? Any ideas?

Coldwater Canyon, which becomes Beverly Drive on the other side of the hill. Take Beverly down to Olympic. Although it might be tempting to hang a right on Santa Monica Blvd., don't do it. Traffic on Santa Monica between West Hollywood and the 405 is miserable at rush hour, and that mile and a half or so to the mall could easily take twenty minutes.

Depends on where you are on Ventura.

If you are more South of Laurel Canyon then just come over the Cahuenga Pass (around the bowl) which will turn into Highland. Take Highland to Olympic, right/west on Olympic to CC. Although Olympic can be tough during high traffic times, it is butter than Santa Monica Blvd.

I think you mean east of Laurel Canyon, which runs north/south.

Sorry!

Yes, you are correct. I meant EAST of Laurel Canyon.

Thanks for catching my mistake. Do not want to mislead anyone
