I've just accepted a job offer from a company that is based in La Mirada, California. I will be moving in November - December. Can anyone who lives there tell me some experience about the area? What is the cost of living? Housing? Is it cheaper to live in Long beach or central LA and commute to work? I would really appreciate it because I've never lived closed to any of the west coast states.....

Budget for housing?
Married? Kids? Ages?

The main chorus is live near where you work but still, it looks like you have lots of options from near the beach living to good suburban neighborhoods.

The above poster asked the right questions. Parts of La Mirada are pretty nice. There are several nearby OC communities such as Brea and Fullerton that are very nice but they will have higher rent and home prices.

Depending on your houseing budget you would be happier in OC, Long Beach sould be ok as well as some areas around La Mirada. I doubt you will want to live in central Los Angeles.

Thanks for the replies guys! I am currently single and will be moving there on my own. I was wondering how the traffic would be if I were to live in long beach and commute to La Mirada.

I am sure someone can give you a better idea than I can. Long Beach can be a great place for singles to live, depending on the area you settle in.

You could live in eastern Long Beach, or a better commute for you might be Fullerton or uptown Whittier. I kinda see, given your age and single status, why you might want to live elsewhere than La Mirada itself, which is quiet and family-oriented. The college has plenty of students, though.
