You are also only a few hours away from Las Vegas. I lived in LA for three years and we traveled to Vegas a half dozen times a year. After our first few trips we found out about Vegas Hot Spots. This is a hosting service that gets you hooked up in all of the clubs throughout town. Every time we visited, we just called our host and he would arrange our bottle service and transportation to and from the clubs. He was awesome and got us the best tables, even on the busiest weekends. After we used him once, we never went without using him again.

There are so many awesome clubs in Vegas. My favorites were Pure, Body English, Tao, Tryst and LAX. But there are plenty more clubs and each offers something different. If you ever get sick of the LA nightlife scene, head out to Vegas for a weekend and you'll likely become a regular visitor!

The website for that hosting service I talked about is below. Check them out if you are headed out there to party!

I promise you this cmushocker, if you and two guys show up to any GOOD club in the L.A area, you are going to WAIT. Not half an hour but it could be a couple of hours. Depends on how trendy the club is.

I recommend Club White Lotus, also Club L.A.X, those are poppin but you need an even ratio of guys to girls to get in quickly.
those kind of clubs aren't worth going to anyway.

Wait in line forever. If you get in drinks are $10 for a bottle of beer. Stuck up women . Lots of people who think they are important.

you couldn't pay me to go to one of those clubs again.

Then I'll come in and rewrite the question a little, where is the good but not "trendy" nightlife like where u don't have to wait in lines and you'll just be sourrunded by **********s?

In other words, where is the NOLA/Mardi Gras style nightlife?

The Mardi Gras nightlife is in...New Orleans.

Anyway, what the OP and yourself seem to be looking for (within the L.A. area anyway) is Hermosa and Manhattan Beach. Pier Ave in Hermosa is probably your best bet.

Not really. There is a town named Hermosa Beach about 4 miles south of LAX. It has a main, pedestrian-only area at the end of Pier Avenue (a road stretching from Pacific Coast Highway about a mile to the ocean.) There are bars and restaurants with patios there. Friday and Saturday nights the scene there is probably the closest thing in L.A. (ok, it's not really that close) to the style of nightlife like Mardi Gras the one person was asking about.
