I've just accepted a position in Chatsworth. I'm not familiar with the area. Which surrounding cities are ok to live in and which areas should I avoid? The farthest I'm willing to drive is about 10 miles. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Do you have kids and are schools an issue? Also are you buying or renting. Northridge/Granada Hills and Chatsworth all have good areas. A little bit up the road, Santa Clarita is newer and more affordable. If you need single lifestyle then things change.

I don't have any kids. I'm in my 20's. I'll be renting and the only thing I'm concerned for is safety.

On that budget in that area, rent a room or guest house in a house in Northridge or Granada Hills. Maybe Woodland Hills is ok too, but you will be on surface streets the whole way to work. Might not be that far though. Parts of Chatsworth are ok too, parts are not.

BTW, don't come back here asking about some apartment you found in Reseda, North Hills, or Canoga Park for $600 a month. You already should know the answer.

Haha yeah anything that sounds too good usually is bad news.
