As I´m from europe I visited LA just for one time in my life. But I know that there live many celebrities and popular musicans, so what I wanted to know is: how often do you see or meet a famous or popular person (celebrity) in everyday life? When I visited Hollywood we only saw one guy who looked like Richard Gere - and finally we thought that maybe he was Richard Gere - but we weren´t sure.
But I´m interested in hearing your experiences!

If you shop at The Grove, or at Target in West Hollywood, you'll see B, C and D listers fairly often. A listers, not as much. You'll see more celebrities if you stick to West LA, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Venice, Brentwood... basically, the nicer, richer areas.

My husband worked at a Whole Foods for a few months, and he saw fairly famous people on a weekly basis.

Well, I grew up here in Los Angeles and I have certainly run into a few celebrities in public places. However, this is over MANY years of living here (as I am 36 years old).

And remember that there are OVER 10 million people in LA County and approx. 4 million in the City of Los Angeles so the LIKELIHOOD of running into a celebrity is NOT that great. Although I am sure the odds are better in LA than most other cities.

Here area some of the famous people I have run into in Los Angeles over the years and where it happened. Some were memorable (i.e., "cool" stars in BOLD while others are more your "cheesy" B-celeb types).

1. Eric Clapton at a restaurant in Sherman Oaks (circa 1993).
2. Drew Barrymore at a coffee house on La Brea Ave (circa 1994).
3. David Hasslehoff at a restaurant in Encino (circa 1994).
4. Lonnie Anderson of "WKRP" fame. (I delivered food to her house in 1994 when I worked for a chinese restauant in the San Fernando Valley).
5. Kirstie Alley at a restaurant in Encino (circa 1990).
6. Snoop Dog at the Standard in Downtown LA (circa 2007).
7. Barbara Eden (from "I Dream of Jeanie") at LAX in 1989.
8. Jason Alexander at a pool hall in Santa Monica circa 1996.
9. David Schwimmer (from "Friends") at a restaurant in West Hollywood in 2006.
10. Kate Hudson at a steakhouse on La Cienega Blvd (circa 2007).
11. Ritchie Sambora (of Bon Jovi) at a 4th of July Party in Malibu (in 2004).

I used to see them in the Palisades somewhat often. BTW, Goldie Hawn can really be a b*tch in person.

I was happy to meet one of the guys from "My Boys" my fourth week in...That's just me though... These people have summed it up well. From what I've been told from the locals, the longer you stay and learn of places the better the chances.

Maybe 1 person a year or less depending on where you go. Also, you may not recognize them in person anyway. I saw David Carradine at the coffee house he used to go to, RIP. I saw Seth Green at a UCLA graduation event. I was the only other person in the elevator when Dave Navarro and Carmen Electra got in to go to the coffee place there (Sunset Virgin Megastore). There are probably others I don't recall.

I'm glad that show is still on, even though I haven't watched it in a while.

I saw a few when I was working on set, but in "real life" I only saw one. I actually saw more celebrities when I lived in NYC than here .....
