Just drive off and stay in a hotel in another town. No one is forcing you to be in L.A.; you can go somewhere else anytime you feel like it.

Living up here on the sunny side of Washington state is fantastic! The weather is great, its super close to all the lakes and trees, yet the valley can be like the San Jouquin in California. I am a real estate broker here and we haven't been hurt like in most parts of the country in real estate, due to our Canadian market.
We have land that you could buy on a lease option and move your RV on it. That's an idea.
I lived in Los Angeles when I was a kid. I remember the smog and crime. Kinda scary. Good luck to you!

I know this is an old thread, but the above needed to be quoted again for emphasis. Not just for Cali, but ANY state.

Life is too short to put up with unnecessary misery.

Exactly, which is why we're back living in Southern California.

Good. Even though Southern Cali is no longer MY cup of tea, but if it is for someone else, then I'm all for it.

It's just sad to read all the posts on CD of people feeling trapped in their respective locations. Sometimes, you just gotta bite the bullet and make that move.

Whatever happens it sure beats living in stagnation and unhappiness.

Well I-5 runs north and south.

I-10 heads east.

Or if you like swimming the OP can always head west.

For going west, sailing would also work! (So would a job on a cruise ship to Hawaii!)
