decent area, just too close to the freeway for me. also, that would be a horrible commute if done during normal commuting hours.

Have you discovered walkscore yet? Type in the address and it will give you a walkability score, plus a map with area restaurants, stores, etc. marked. It's a great resource.

Argyle and Franklin is predominated by the Hollywood Freeway over pass
(And Rufallos pizza parlor which is delish). There is also a storage place and gas station handy but you are walking distance to Hollywood and Vine.

That corner (Arglye and Franklin) is muy fea due to the freeway but if you hike you can get close to the Hollywood Sign in under an hour. The convent is a couple blocks away that makes pricey but delicious pumpkin bread. Five to six blocks east is Franklin Village: book store, eateries and bars, liquor store, deli, pet shop, cleaners, and market.

I assume you are getting an apt right near there in one of those older bldgs to save money, then commuting to the west side.
That commute is by streets, no freeways go direct, and will take you roughly 30 minutes with light traffic. But I would count on 45....

Go east on Franklin to Highland, then south to where it meets with LaBrea, continue south and when you get to Olympic, then West to Sepulveda. Don't dilly dally, you have a fair distance to go.
