I'm thinking of moving to the LA far suburbs in Antelope Valley, because of the milder winters, longer summers and sunshine. However, I'm worried that I'll either get used to it, or even bored with it - so that I'll end up shivering when the temperature falls to the mid 50s.

Is this is an issue for those who have moved to LA from elsewhere?

Are you kidding? I'm so bored with LA weather that it's one of the primary reasons I'm thinking of moving away, relocating to a place with interesting weather. I'm a LA native, and lived here my entire life.

I'll just start it out and assume others will add their own boring descriptions. We have "June Gloom" (often preceded by May Gray) where it can sometimes go several weeks with low overcast and no direct sunlight. Temperatures are often warm and sometimes even hot. You start to wonder if there really is blue sky up there above the clouds.

I spent 15 months once working in Palm Springs, commuting on a weekly basis, and I got to dread coming back to LA knowing that there was still low clouds and no sunshine. Yet in Palm Springs we had sunny weather every day.

the only problem is that once summer rolls around its 110-115 outside in palm springs while the beaches and central LA areas are 75-85. Although the gloominess of early summer can get old quick, i'll take it when the temps the rest of the year range between 45-85 degrees. Compare that to chicago where temps can range from 0-100 through the course of a year. no thanks.

You won't have to worry about fog or even very many clouds in the Antelope Valley. The vast majority of our days are sunny.

The desert is a land of extremes. In the summer it's extremely hot. In the winter, it gets below freezing at night regularly. It doesn't rain much, and snows even less (though this past December we got 12" of snow in one day).

The biggest thing you need to know about this area is that it's hot and windy.

I like being able to walk barefoot to take my trash out in the middle of winter. I much prefer hot weather to cold.

If you like all four seasons, this might not be the place for you.

And yes, you'll most likely adapt to whatever weather you're living in.

I've been loving this rain/hail/snow/sleet stuff we've been getting......... It's water.....and we don't get much...I don't understand why everyone seems to make it such a big deal and complain.

But, YES, I've lived in the Valley all my life and am used to the weather. Not sure I could get bored of weather...lol. It's gonna happen regardless.

I'm a transplant and I never liked LA weather much. The relentless sun is a drag and bad for your skin. I actually like the June Gloom. The trouble is that almost everywhere else in America has worse weather. I'd take Bay Area weather over just about any other.

I think if you're involved with life, the weather doesn't matter much. It especially shouldn't matter in Southern California, where the weather is nice most of the time.
