There is a stretch of Artesia blvd between Lakewood and Clark that is full of ratty run down trailer/mobile home lots that just looks awful. Don't know what can be done about it, but it just makes that area look run down and dumpy.

I notice a lot of white trash tweaker types riding bicycles around the city, seems like a lot of those types too. We've lived in and around Bellflower our whole lives and I got to say, Bellflower was probably a lot nicer back in the 80's, it's a dump as far as I'm concerned, sorry to offend those who live there, there are pockets of the city that is ok, but overall I'd recommend living in Lakewood or Long Beach, or Cerritos instead, they are all short drives to where the OP is going to be employed.

Long beach? Only smaller pockets of it is decent. Lakewood is still ok but it'll become more like Bellflower in the near future. Not saying Bellflower is bad. It appears Bellflower gets better towards west bordering Downey.

I've actually been looking into SE LA County a bit. While it is true that Cerritos has the highest incomes and is the nicest in terms of general look and feel, and, Lakewood is generally nicer than Bellflower, I can't fault Bellflower too much. Looking at actual crime stats and general trends, the gentrification wave is also hitting it, but not as strongly as Lakewood. That may actually be a good thing since home prices are slightly more reasonable in Bellflower than they are in Lakewood (forget Cerritos, it's already suffering from what I call "The Bay Area Disease" - e.g. hyper-inflation of real estate).

LOL, you can put all of the "good parts" of long beach together and it would most likely still be geographically larger than all of bellflower......
