I recently graduated and moved out to LA and for a while it looked as though I'd be working in the Santa Monica area, and as I liked this part of town I signed a lease on a place here in West LA. Only problem is, I didn't get the job and I'm now up for something in Burbank.
I've driven over to Burbank a few times for interviews (usually around 4pm), and via Santa Monica Blvd the traffic was horrific!! If I get the job, and let's say I have to be into the office each morning by 8:30am, what is the best route to get to W. Alameda Ave from West LA?

maybe the 101, exit Beuna Vista. That will be a terrible commute though.

That might work, but I'm no where near the 101. I'm right in the heart of Westwood/West LA. Just off the 405, north of the 10.
I'm fully aware it'll be a deadly commute- no need to remind me!!! I'm just trying to figure out the best way to get through it.

405 to 101. Try to start work as early as 7am if possible. That will make things much easier both ways. Only other route is 10 to 110 to 5 and at least the 5 north will be an easy drive.

Move to Burbank, Tolucca Lake, or Glendale ASAP.

What would the penalty (after having signed the lease) be for not living in Santa Monica and living near Burbank? It might be worth thousand(s) of dollars not to do that commute for a year.

Just an outside thought. Could you take a Metro Rapid to Union Station and then Metrolink to Burbank?
