In the last 24 hours, I've heard about the recent death of Lily Burk. Ever since this happened, it seems like Angelenos on other forums are using racial slurs and being openly bigoted.

Where did people get the sources of the man's race?

They've been showing photos of him in the media. I don't believe racism is on the rise in LA, I think it just comes out when people have a reason to demonstrate it. I don't think it's just LA either...

People are just looking for a reason to pull up race when it comes to things like this. This race stuff is getting pretty old, not to mention annoying.

Yes, I'm afraid racism still exists in Los Angeles.

The L.A. Times released a picture.

However, I wouldn't say that bigotry is anything new in L.A. or even a dead creature of the past. Just look at everything that's said about Latinos on THIS forum.

No

Please don't make assumptions if you don't know the full story or background.

It's dangerous to generalize based on reactions to one incident.

Again, as noted earlier, the firefighters who've filed suit are in New Haven, Connecticut. The Caltrans chapter filing suit is in San Diego.

Neither of those is directly connected to Los Angeles, the topic of this thread. I'm not offering any opinion on racism in Los Angeles, but quoting articles from other cities/states doesn't prove anything.
