I'm sure this is what she wants her husband to be like. He will be such a good dad and awesome husband if he is just like that. He'll be at all his kid's soccer games, as long as they are at 8:30 at night when he gets home.

I hope you will look into living in So Pasadena which would be a very short commute. Of course I do have any idea what your housing budget is, but So Pasadena, as well as Arcadia are both great family towns and next door to Pasadana. Temple City is another posiblility as well as San Gabriel. Also Sierra Madre is near the mountains, just east of Pasadena and has an awesome little downtown area where you could walk around.

Living near the water will be out of the question, yes, his commute would mean no daddy except on weekends.
As for smog, it burns off pretty early in the day and isn't nearly as bad as it was 20 or 30 years ago. ood luck,
