Will be announcing the news at 1200p PST. I like him. That's too bad.

Not good. I really like the Chief. He's the best chief we've had since Darryl Gates. I know a lot of people dont like Gates but we've had nothing but losers after him. Parks was okay though.

I liked him until he endorsed the mayor and started lying about crime statistics.

George Gascon was the LAPD "in house candidate". Gavin Newsom recently appointed him SFPD chief.

Gates was great. I wish he'd come back. He was Chief Parker's personal driver and that may have rubbed off on him. Both were pretty controversial, hard nosed cops. (I read Gates's autobiography.) Another one was Ed Davis (Though, I vaguely remember April 1975, I think it was Chief Davis who had 511 people arrested at a Pink Floyd concert at the Sports Arena, not the smartest use of LAPD resources.)

Amazon.com: Chief: My Life In The L.A.P.D. (9780553073010): Daryl Gates: Books

Gates personally arrested Damian "Football" Williams.

After instructing his cops to do nothing about what eventually became the '92 L.A. riots? I'll bet Reginald Denny's head would have fared better had some cops actually exited their cars that day.

This HAS to be sarcasm....

If you want a chief JUST like Gates, Eddie Compass (NOPD chief during Katrina) would probably be willing to take the job.
