I am just curious,
what Internet Service Providers do you guys use?
I am from Hawaii and over here I use Hawaiian Telcom, but I'm curious about ISPs in L.A.
Any suggestions if I were to move to the Sherman Oaks area?

From my personal experience, AT&T U-verse knocks the socks off Time Warner.

Right now you have a choice between DSL (AT&T or Verizon depending who services Sherman Oaks) and Cable (Time Warner, Charter, Comcast - again not sure who services Sherman Oaks). Only other option would be FioS but again not sure if thats available, I hear its mightly fast but pretty pricey.

I use to always go with the Cable Modem option and package it together with TV and VoIP phone, but that was because I was a renter and could not find a reasonable place to put up a dish. Now that I own, I'm all about DirectTV (SUNDAY TICKET!); I still use AT&T DSL and use the cheapest possible monthly phone options - I know the phone is a waste, but it's necessary for the DSL and the home alarm system.

Charter is in bankruptcy, iirc., Time Warner is currently being sued by the state for fraud. Their service may be the worst in the country. Comcast isn't that great, either. If Verizon has its FiOS service in your area, give that whirl. Plus their cellphone service has arguably the best coverage in the country.
