Does the City of LA allow artificial turfs visible from the street? (Glendale: landscaping)

There's an article from Glendale that they don't allow artificial turf and I was wondering if the City of LA is any different.

The high quality artifical turf doesn't actually look that bad, I can't really tell when someone has it. I have two neighbors that put it in and it looks pretty nice. The only way you could tell it may be fake is their lawn is so perfect, TOO perfect!

I think with the water crisis we are in, there should not be bans on artificial turf that is of the right quality. I read that something like 58% of the water a household uses in So Cal just goes to their landscaping!!

artificial turf gets hot as hell during hot weather and contributes to urban heat, and it doesnt produce any oxygen or recycle any co2

i havent seen it a lot out here, but did see it on occasion in the denver area

Very expensive. I didn't run the numbers but you'd probably have to water your lawn normally for 20 years before you'd break even on the costs of artificial turf.

One other point to keep in mind is I probably wouldn't have a gardener if I were to put in the artificial turf. That will save me around $50 a month (at the very least).

Do you have a gym membership?

If so, maybe you could quit the gym and mow your lawn from April to October. Free exercise - no membership required - no monthly fees.

From October to April you could do something else productive like pick up neighborhood trash because lawns don't need to be mowed more than once every six weeks if that.

That's maybe $100 per month savings.

With the kinds of things I have seen people do with their front lawns I would be surprised if they didn't allow it.

Exactly. Why would anyone want to park their vehicles on an expensive artificial turf lawn.

Ummm....yes I have a gym membership, but if I gave that up to start mowing my own lawn, then I'd have to pay for a lawn mower (not cheap), a weed wacker, leaf blower, the list goes on. On top of that, I'm fortunate to have a company who pays $30 a month to encourage its employees to go to the gym, so that covers my gym membership.

Anyway, I haven't heard anyone say that the City of LA prohibits artificial turf and many of you are right, people are parking on their lawns, keeping brown lawns, etc and it doesn't seem to change. So the city must not really care. I wonder if the city of LA fines people like other cities for brown lawns.
