Hello everyone,
I recently moved back to California and quickly discovered that my friends had moved out of the state. I am looking to meet some new friends and yes hopefully a gf. Please recommend locations (cafes, town centers, events, websites, organizations ...) that are good for meeting people. If you can, include the address or the city name of the location. I live around Pasadena off the 210 and dont mind driving out to meet a new crowd.

Thanks in advance. GT.

Exitas Acta Probat: you are too funny!

To answer the poster's question: I think you can meet people at the bookstore, coffee shops & anywhere that has an outdoor musical venue. Just follow the noise on Friday evenings in any area that has outside dining. Orange County has tons of cute places to hang out. It would be worth the commute if you don't find what you like in Pasadena...

Myself, I've always been successful using match.com. I have found that people's self descriptions are neither here nor there. A smoker trying to quit probably means they'll quit if/when they're dying. Someone who jokes about books holding up the couch is probably someone who hasn't actually read a book since forced to in HS. Figure out what's a deal breaker for you & be sure to use that in your scrutiny.

With the friend services I've found correspondence delaying meeting is worthless. People tend to be very different "on paper" than in person. When you get to hear the person's voice on the phone, you get a good idea whether meeting would even be tolerable. Meet a person as soon as possible in a public venue during the day (safety). You'll know within seconds whether there's a "possible" match. It's funny how a person's rejection shows on his face so fast.

If talking is a mutual pleasure & there's no uptightness, there's a second date in your future. My guy found me on Match & we've been together 5 years. We just clicked the first time we spoke on the phone & fell in love nearly at first sight. The first day together was the first day of 5 years of chumminess.

Good luck & let us know how it's going!
