I am currently nearing the end of my 4 year enlistment in the U.S. Army. I am going to finish up just over 2 years of school that I have remaining and am considering doing this in the Los Angeles area. Money for school is not a problem I will be recieving about 1800 dollars a month from the G.I. Bill, also working part time. What are your opinions on living out there and going to college? I have extended family that I've maybe seen twice in my life out there and also some friends.

What will you be studying? What career path comes after that?

If you are 100% sure (and not just 99% sure) that money isn't a problem, then why not?

Where do you think you will be settling after you graduate? In the Los Angeles area? Are you familiar with the traffic and housing prices?

I will be getting a business degree. Possibly law school after that. I'm was saying that money for school wouldn't be a problem. I am aware of how high cost of living is and am a very hard worker. (if I can get a job in the current economy) I grew up in the Virginia Beach area so I am familiar with traffic. I know that it is not as bad as SoCal. I would like to setter in the LA area. I have friends in the Glendora and Orange County areas and am under the impression that these are good places to raise a family and make a home.

You seem to have a good general plan. If you can get into UCLA go for it, good biz school. A bit cheaper are multiple Cal State campuses in the area. A degree, plus Army experience plus additional work experience, and you may indeed end up doing OK.

UCLA and USC would be nice starters for business.. after that, Chapman is good. Don't know what else in the area has highly rated business, but I'm sure UCI and Cal State Long Beach aren't bad options either

Welcome home!

USC is good for networking, but you will likely get a better and cheaper education at UCLA. Plus UCLA is in a much better area (Westwood).

No idea. You'd probably want to contact admissions or the business colleges there to check.

UCLA doesn't have a undergrad business program. USC does. If you want to go to UCLA you will have to major in Econ or business-econ (which isn't techinally a business degree but an econ degree with an emphisis in business). They both have work study, although USC is a private school so it has more money which allows it to provide more work study type jobs. UCLA is in a great area and would be a better choice if you don't have a car. USC has a few things around it, but you would have to basically drive to get to anywhere.

Either school would be a great choice though.
