Wow, thanks guys, some really sound advice, no doubt I will be contacting some of you directly....

I am a current ACCA PQ Accountant, and am planning on leaving my current job regardless of whether I stay in England or not, to be honest I am only sticking around as I am soo comfortable in the job that it frees up time for me to research and look into other things I want to do, i.e. Move to LA.

I am not deluded in thinking the task will be easy, but my main purpose of going is for the experience. I figure I may as well go and give it a try and and if luck be on my side then excellent. Its always good to have negative comments as well as positive so I can plan for every eventuality.

Maybe I will do Melbourne in 2011 Blendywee, so look out for me.

If anybody else wants to contact me for....friendship,advice,or getting me a job.... then great.

go for australia- so similar to Oz and you can get a visa- unless you are prepared to possibly get no work here os occasional cash in hand work- Oz is a great year away from the UK- we have moved to LA and i think it would be quite tough here without a visa- much more expensive to get by than somewhere like sydney of melbourne where you have same climate and very simliar vive to US

good luck with it all- your 20s are for adventure so you go for it- london can get pretty hum drum in the winter somehow and it is good to have change.

Good luck!

I also second the person who suggested come and stay for a few months and see if you really like it here, while also looking for employment/making contacts. It sounds like you are going to have a great time though regardless

I wonder what you find boring about London though, from what I hear it is great. Maybe it's the weather?

Welcome to LA in advance!
This is an amazing place; your definitions of 'amazing' will have to overlay mine, of course.
Depending on what you like and do, where you like to play. etc that will help determine where to hang out.

My last client from the UK LOVES Silver Lake because it is more casual, less chi chi than the west side of town where most of his clients are, but still trendy and hip. He came ahead, then brought the family and they are ecstatic.

What part of greener pastures are you interested in?
