We are moving to the valley- Husband is a write and has a job already in the business. What is the difference between these areas? Why would some one pick one over the other. How do there differ and is there anything bad about any of them. I know its SUPER hot. We are 30's, trying to have a baby. renting something 4000 a months tops.

Studio city is our #1, but curious about other areas of there is not a place we like in Studio City.

What I like about Studio City is proximity to BH. Just pop over the hill and you are there. Also, the look and feel of the portion of Ventura Blvd that goes through it is quite appealing. It's evocative of the golden age of CA, namely the 1950s. Also, I'm a sucker for Coast Live Oaks, and particularly like, therefore, the part south of Ventura up into the hills, and to the BH line.

BTW, $4000 will get you a very nice apartment. You might want to look into renting a house if you're up to it.

1.
Studio City - Nice area with lot of long time residences and some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Go to Trader Joes, Jumpin Java, Starbucks or similar places and most people will greet you with a smile and friendly conversation.
2.
Sherman Oaks - Another nice area with lots of Persian Jews and Russian immigrants. Seems to be a desired destination for a lot of transplants who come here wanting to get into the industry. Nice area and slightly less expensive than Studio City.

Toluca Lake - Most expensive of them all. I loved it when I lived there and thought I'd stay until I moved to Sherman Oaks. Really isnt its own city as its a very very small area sandwiched between North Hollywood and Burbank. Not much to do at night other than a few restaurants and Timmy Nolans on Riverside drive. Nippon is still my favorite sushi place but mainly because I was a regular there for so many years. Nice area to go for walks in the neighborhood at night but not much else there really.
4.
Burbank - The least expensive of them all and is kind of the "starter city" for most people wanting to move to Los Angeles. Very good mix of all types of people with hispanic population rising rapidly. I run a business in Burbank and bought my first property there in the 90s. Many more apartment dwellers in Burbank due to its size and the availabilty of cheaper housing. Media Center draws in people from other parts of the valley (North Hollywood, Sun Valley, Van Nuys, Glendale, etc.) so expect a lot of diversity.
