Let's also not forget the two veteran L.A. County firemen who died yesterday fighting the Station Fire.

cynwldkat... I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I guess the only good news is that you and your family are safe and will be able to help each other put the pieces back together.

Sigh...we use to go there and eat all the time....
LASAM, yes, we are safe but it has been a horrific experience. The whole family has knots in our stomaches and are having problems just functioning right now. I know with time things will work out but right now it is all so surreal. We can't sleep at nights right now---keep thinking about everything that was still in the house. How maybe we could have saved the house had we been there. And then the "why's"...why were there no firetrucks around to help us...why were there no concerns about an entire neighborhood in so much need of assistance? So many thoughts, so many questions, so much pain and such an empty feeling now.....

Cyn, my sincere condolences on the loss of the family home and the devastation of the Big T area in particular.

Very sorry to hear about your home, cynwldkat.

Some pics from my neighborhood and yard:

Thursday, from across the street:

Thursday, from Foothill Blvd., a block from my house:

From my backyard today (Monday):

Another from my backyard:

But this isn't as bad as it gets. You can see blue sky in the picture, and I was able to stand outside and take them. When we left, you couldn't see the mountains b/c the smoke was so thick, and the sky was a thick brown-yellow sheet.
