Just moved to Marina Del Rey. LOVE IT! But need to find a cheaper grocery store. All I have seen are ralph's. They seem nice but are a little pricey. Is there something cheaper around the west side. I went to a wal-mart in inglewood (i think it was inglewood) and it was crowded and not really that much food (used to a super walmart). What about a smart and final? Are they just bulk like costco? Thanks

You need to sign up for a free club card at all the grocery chains to get their sale prices. It does make a difference. There are Trader Joes, which I find pricey for some things and cheap for others. Food 4 Less is a cheaper grocery store with an Inglewood location.

If you really want to sail the edge of cheapness, don't turn your nose up at the 99 Cents Only store in Santa Monica on Pico off the 10, not too far from Marina Del Rey. It's a chain, well worth checking out if only for certain staples and packaged items, with every item in the store reliably, well, closeout priced at 99 cents only. You never know what you'll find on any given restocking day, and when you find something good it's really good at the price. Even in the refrigerator case. There's a Venice location too. (ETA: I'd warn you that these aren't the tidiest of their stores but that's cheap for ya.)

there not whole lot of cheap grocery stores there than east of where you are at which got so many of them. Those couple of cheaper grocery store probably enough for yourself though.

Vallarta is cheap (my mom shops there so it has to be cheap) but I didn't see one near MDR.

i live in the marina and do most of my grocery shopping at costco. otherwise, we get stuff at the albertson's next to costco, one of the 5 or so ralph's in the area, or head over to trader joe's in santa monica or westchester. trader joe's is probably the cheapest for basic groceries, but they only usually carry one brand of each item (often trader joe's brand), so selection is limited. however, almost everything i've had from there has been good so it works for me.

Smart & Final's at 604 Lincoln in Venice. I prefer S&F to a Costco, as there's no membership, no Nazi at the door pawing through what you just paid for, and there's never the insane crowds that Costco attracts.

I live on the Marina/Venice border and go to Trader Joe's in Santa Monica. I find that I get much more for cheaper price compared to Ralph's, Albertsons, and Pavillions.
