Hi! I am from Argentina and I am going for a couple days to LA after a meeting in San Diego in december. I have never been to LA so I was wondering if anybody could recomend me a place to stay in LA, or which is the best area.
Thanks!!
Guada

Look at Liberty Hotel just behind Graummans Chinese theatre and the Kodak theatre, or look at recommendations in the Lonely Planet book on la. It backs onto the carpark for a major hotel so there's security guards in the area. Its a stroll, thru the large hotel's carpark area (under the gaze of security guards), to the hollywood 'stars' walk. There's a 'get on get off bus' stop there for about $25 a day, the bus starts/ends in front of Graummans, so you can see the sights, head off to Universal and its rides or head off to see Beverly Hills, get off for a walk, then get on again etc til it brings you back. I think the Liberty was $120 a night 2 years ago. The rooms are large ex apartments. Its not 5 star. the family who run, or ran it, are from India or thereabouts and very helpful too:my daughter was ill and they took us to a hospital.

Hope that helps.

post script, before you book, look at reviews on tripadvisor.com. Just beware that some people are 'precious', and some hotels actually are dives.

The Hosteling International hostel in Santa Monica HI - Santa Monica :: Quality Beach Hostels in Los Angeles, California to Reserve Online is safe and clean and in a very good area. It's a block or two from the beach, and near lots of places for food, entertainment, shopping, etc. It's also an easy bus ride to the airport, and the Santa Monica bus system is very good in general. The hostel can help you make arrangements for sightseeing trips, etc. Like all hostels, it tends toward young people and can get a bit noisy. Dorm rates are $30 and up, I think.
