I have been living in LA for a little over a year now, and I am having a hard time meeting people and making friends. Any advice on where and how I could meet people? I am a 23 year old female (fyi). I've thought about joining an interest group or something like that, but I don't really know where to start. Any other options welcome too! Thank you!

Co-ed softball leagues
Go to an auto parts store and walk around on a Saturday morning. Lots of guys there; have one help you look for the proper radiator coolant for a 1969 VW bug.
Co-workers with guy friends (or brothers)

Bike club or running club, if either of those interest you.

Start with Meetup.com. Whatever interest you have (food, happy hour, hiking, etc), there should be a group for it in the LA area. I hang out with one of the many Happy Hour groups (majority singles) every now and then, pretty cool people.

Ditto on Meetup. I got into Meetup through a specific group related to my career, but I think if you browse groups in the area, you'll there's groups for every possible interest. Try a few out. It really is a great way to make new friends.

because men ARE/CAN also be interested with other men.
on a serious note, and this is coming from an "East Coast" guy..
this is the downside of LA, where you and everyone else DRIVE.
ONE can choose NOT to interact with anyone if that person chose to.

Unlike in New York and Chicago, where public transpo is for everyone, chances are, you'll talk to someone.

i suggest to enroll at your local GYM.
join classes like Zumba, spin etc
You'll definitely make new aquantaince there
