Go to Photography Studios and try and pick up work as a make-up artist for weddings and special events. Also, put an ad in Craigslist for weddings for free in trade of 8x10 pics of the bride. If more than the bride will want make-up than charge for those people separately but be reasonable since you are building a business.

Looking for feedback from others who have attended either MUD (Make up Designory) and/or Studio Make Up Academy. I recently toured 5 Make Up Artistry Schools in the Hollywood area. I am originally from New Orleans but after Hurricane Katrina I went through a divorce and moved back to family in "Kentuckiana" area. Although many pursue this career with high hopes...I understand the reality that not everyone gets a break or has connections. Since I was married for 28 yrs and now free to follow my passion...I am willing to take a risk. I would appreciate any feedback that may prepare me for what is to come. I am very interested in attending both of these schools for different reasons but I am seeking confirmation from others who may offer words of wisdom to help me make a decision. Also for these schools...can you offer suggestions on living arrangements short term/did you share with other students, or find a place of your own?
