I will be driving from LAX airport to a hotel in downtown Pasadena on a weekday (not a Friday), leaving the airport around 3PM or so. I've been given directions to drive on the 105 to 110 into Pasadena. How long do you estimate this would take?

Also for a return flight on a Saturday morning, I would need to be at the airport around 11AM. What time should I leave downtown Pasadena to reach by that time?

I don't want to rely on google maps time estimates - I'd prefer to know from the locals who frequent these routes. Thanks.

The weekday trip is a crapshoot. With normal flowing traffic, you should plan on 90-mins from LAX to Pasadena on that route at that time. And, yes, it's the best route. Could be shorter or longer. You'll hit the aerospace traffic on the 105 eastbound leaving El Segundo. On a Saturday morning, you should be able to make the reverse trip in 45-60mins. HOWEVER, check the local sports to ensure that there is not a UCLA, USC or Laker game on the day/time you plan to travel.

A 3PM weekday drive from LAX to Pasadena will probably take just over an hour. Heading to LAX from Pasadena for an 11AM Saturday flight will take under an hour, I'm thinking 45 minutes. I would leave Pasadena no later than 9AM,.......8:30AM if there's a car rental return.

those times could not get much worse for you. to be absolutely safe, i would give yourself at least 2 hours each way. with no traffic, lax and pasadena are about 45 minutes apart. during the times you will be driving, you will be catching the beginning or end of rush hour, so it could be worse, but not much. if a car isn't certain for you, i would highly recommend using the flyaway bus and gold line train to get from the airport to pasadena. if a car will be part of your plans, i recommend changing your flights to burbank.

Thanks for all of the info... I'm already booked (by a company) to fly in to LAX and will be renting a car at the airport (also booked). I don't care how long it takes on the arrival day - if it is a congested drive so be it, I just wanted a guage for how long it would be.

As for the Saturday Morning, I have 1:10 PM flight (sorry for not making myself clear). I need to return the car at the airport. For those who have done this sort of thing, what time would you recommend leaving the hotel in Pasadena?

Thanks ....
