Guys, who are from LA, I'd like to ask someth.
I live in Bulgaria and after three years I'll go to work on the cruise lines and I'll be getting pretty good money for my country(about 4000 dollars a month).
I wanna know will this money will be enough for me to live in LA(accomodations, food, going out, etc). Can you tell me how are the prices there, and what are the average wages?

That's more than enough. It can be done on 3000 no problem. 2000 is pushing the limits.

$48k a year for a single person is a decent salary. Sounds like by working on a cruise ship you would be able to sock away a lot of money since your meals will be taken care of and may not be home as much as those working on land. You could live in a good area without eating up too much of your pay check but since I don't know what your monthly bills are like I can't really say how good of an area. Just check out the areas of L.A. that appeal to you first (Ocean, suburbs, city feel, hillsides, etc.) and then see what you could get for a rental using Craigslist or the L.A. Times or even rent.com for nice apartments. Good luck to you!

Are you certain that's what you really want to do, Tytus?
Four grand a month is a lot of money for Bulgaria and might provide a solid foundation for your future there.
Unless, of course, your family has already provided all that for you thus you can afford to treat your anticipated cruise pay as play money. Stick around and read more here, it will help you make an educated choice. Well, you know best!
Good luck!

P.S. Your last name - naughty, naughty...

Maybe I misunderstood, but it sounded like the job he would take in the U.S. would pay him $4k a month which would be a lot of money for Bulgaria but he would be living here.

I meant I would be working on the cruise lines anyway, independently where I live

Yes, here it's a lot of money. But I prefer to live where I want, than to be rich... I wanna go in bigger country, in bigger city, I have money friends been in LA and what I know from them...especially from social point of view, it'll be paradise for me. People here in Bulgaria are too conservative and still stuck in social perspective. A, and the weather here is awful in the winter, I hate cold weather and only this is enough to move me out

Working “offshore” as it were you would still have to be legally resident somewhere for tax purposes.
I highly doubt that you would get a visa to live in the US and work on a cruse line.
As Bulgaria is in the EU you can live in or work from any European country but unfortunately not the USA.

Can't I get some kind of working Visa? would it help if I work in an American company, such as Royal Caribbean for example?

It's hard to get a working Visa unless you have some type of special skill since so many people that are already eligible for work are out of a job. As for working for an American company like Royal Caribbean I actually have no idea.
