Hey all,

Seen plenty of threads on commute times from Manhattan Beach TO LA downtown, but not the opposite.

I work in El Segundo on Rosecrans Ave right off the 405. I have the option to stay in LA Downtown or a place near the Grove and am wondering which will be better for commuting? It is a "reverse" commute per say, right?

Check out Sigalert.com Los Angeles Traffic Map and see for yourself.
Also check out metro trains, the green line goes right into El Segundo. May be a trade off if the extra train ride/hassle is worth the aggravation of traffic.

Thanks Charles - i did check that site but I wish it showed historical numbers or commute times. It gives more real-time data right?

If you lived downtown and worked in El Segundo you would also have the option to commute via light rail on the blue and green lines.

Question Bumping This...

Apologies; I couldn't actually find the "El Segundo/Westside to Downtown LA" threads referenced, so I figured I'd just piggyback on this one...

Can someone familiar with the area(s) tell me what a "typical" commute from El Segundo to Downtown LA (7th street and Flower) would be?

Also, if someone from one of the following areas knows, what would the "typical" commute-time to downtown LA be from:

(1) Long Beach (specifically, near the shoreline/downtown LB area--basically, taking the 110 the whole way);

(2) Redondo Beach; and,

(3) Playa/Marina Del Rey;

This is for my wife, who does NOT want to take public transportation (i.e., the Metro) if at all possible (I know the Blue Line would take care of her Long Beach commute, but again, that's not a viable option for her).

Thanks in advance!

45 minute plus from Playa and Long Beach at 8am. 1 hour plus from Redondo. El Segundo is farther than Playa by a little bit. Going home, literally varies day to day.

The train will take you about an hour. Depending on the time of day, a car trip will take roughly 35 - 45 mintues. Maybe an hour during a heavy rush hour.
