Hello. I was wondering how the technical web developer/programmer/IT systems architect job market is? We live in the Sacramento area, and currently, if my husband were to lose his job, there is not 1 job posted in his field that pays more than $60,000 *some at $40,000, and basically nothing posted as it is. We see tons of jobs posted in LA area, but there is also much more people in LA. So we are trying to figure out if it is really any better. I do not know how else to compare it. We moved outside of Sacramento over a year ago, and do not want to make the same mistake moving our kids to another area if we will struggle there as well. And for myself, I cannot even find a job in HR or customer service in the Sacramento area. So, any help sorting it out would be great!

All I can say is welcome to the new California economy.

I do know that many hospitals are increasing the amount of IT staff. Most things are switching from paper to digital, including even x-rays. We have increased our IT staff from a small department of 8 to over 20 people in the past couple years. Maybe not what your husband is looking for but his skills may match up with someone elses needs.
