As I am previously mentioned, I am really new to LA and dont know jack about the neighborhoods so please excuse me for another one of these questions.

A rental I am looking at ( fabulous deal. In fact almost TOO fabulous) is on Marshall Drive in Culver City. Marshall is West of Culver Blvd, N. of S. Centinela, South of Inglewood Blvd and East of Ballona Creek.

I really like the house but this particular street does not seem to be as nice as some other parts of Culver but overall, I am told that Culver is safe. In fact, lets just go ahead and call the street "dicey" looking. Am I right to be concerned about this area of Culver or is it just newcomer's paranoia? My concerns are more about personal safety than property crime- I really dont have anything of value to steal.

Thanks in advance. Again!

NewinScal, let's try a different method and maybe you'll get some better information. Where is your job, or what general area are you tied to? Westside, South Bay, Long Beach, etc? Secondly, what is your preferred apartment or house size and, finally, what is your maximum rental amount per month.

There are lots of little pockets of good areas in bad and bad areas in good neighborhoods around LA. Any additional information that you can provide will help the CDers provide better recommendations.

Thanks.
My job in in El Segundo. Ideally I would be in El Segundo, Redondo or Westchester. I hate commuting and want to spend as little time in traffic or on highways as possible. I am looking to drive no more than 15 normal minutes to work. I would prefer a house because I have a dog. Although well-behaved, my dog is not a small dog. It MUST have a fenced yard. I am looking for 2 bD min , but prefer 3 bd or 2bd plus an "extra space"( den, study, family, room office, etc). Price is trickier. I had hoped to find a place in the $1500 range. Once I arrived and realized that was not going to happen, I have widened my "budget" to $1800( ideal) to $2750. At the $2750 end I expect most if not all of my requirements to be met ( and include most appliances). Personal safety is also an issue for me.

Thanks

I'll send you a direct message on some that are in today's El Segundo Herald. I would also suggest that you pick up some of the local newspapers- Daily Breeze, Beach Reporter, etc. The dog will limit your search considerably.

The only home now available for lease on Marshall is $1900.
That is pretty inexpensive these days, so it may not be the very best street.

Has your agent shown you homes on other streets?
Did you ask people at work where they live?

Thanks for looking. I did not see 1900 on Marshall where did you see that?
I did ask co-workers but everyone has a ( different) opinion to the point that it is not really so helpful. I've also checked out the papers ( though not this week). They are hit or miss.
Thanks
