Hello there everyone! I'm wondering if anyone could recommend apartments that are around the Koreatown / Wilshire area and areas around USC. A good friend of mine suggested that I try places in these particular spots. I'm an LA native and a friend and I are planning to move in together. We've considered the idea of splitting a 1Bed apartment to cut expenses but its more realistic that we get a 2Bed instead.

Can anyone recommend anything that's under $1200 for a 2Bed even if they're both kind of small?

hmm those areas are high crime areas, despite having good businesses and a respected school. If you cna find an apartment right off of campus, then you'll be good, but even 1 block away from campus, and you run into very bad areas (a co-worker of mines went to USC and he lived next to a car dealership near the school. he has many stories, and moved out after his first semester)

do you both have cars? plan to commute by public? (rail/ bus)?

Not sure on pricing but I have a friend who lives at the Gaylord and loves it there. He commutes into Torrance. He is an East Coast transplant.

Apartment Ratings :: The leading source of apartment reviews by renters for renters. leaves a lot to be desired, as disgruntled tenants are much likelier to post than happy campers ... but I think it's better than nothing, and the price is right.

I'd also take a look at the bed bug registry before committing to a new place:

Bed Bug Reports for Los Angeles
Bedbug Registry

... and use your own judgment about how much stock to put in the complaints.
