I received a wet recklace, and had my lisence suspended. I have been making payments on the ticket everymonth on time. I recently got a speeding ticking while driving with my suspended lisence because my girlfriend was sick and asked me to drive. They gave me a court date. Is there a chance I could go to jail? I'm very worried.

They don't like to clog up the jails with cases such as yours, but I'd be worried if you can't pay the sizable fine the judge is going to impose on this one. They DO NOT like to see moving violations (especially speeding) on a suspended driver. They really take a dim view of stuff like that.

When I was caught driving on a suspended license, my car was towed and I had to pay a fee to get my car out of the tow yard. I was not assessed a fee by the courts for this. This was in another smaller county in CA though. The only way I see you going to jail is if you have a LONG history of severe driving offenses i.e. multiple DUI's etc, if even that. Its still a very slim chance.

Your lucky they didn't impound the car. My nephew foolishly let his insurance expire, he was stopped in Pasadena and they impounded the car.

I believe they do that as well for a suspended license.

If you knew your DL was suspended why did you speed? You shouldn't be driving but since you did, you keep a low profile.

Wow, in Nevada it is a mandatory 30 days in jail, no ifs, and or buts. You are lucky.

He is lucky he didn't get arrested and have the car towed. The norm is they will tow the car if you don't have insurance, even with a valid DL.
