The trees on the left of pics 2 and 3 are Coast Live Oaks (quercus agrifolia). That pretty much eliminates the basin.

Yes, I know, not a big help, but it's something.

The first photo looks like some of the deciduous trees have no leaves - winter, sun angle looks from south. Front of house may be south.

Ok, we're down to 1250 mansions.

Okay. Somebody check this out using Bing Virtual Earth SDK (Bing Maps Interactive SDK) or Google Earth.

But the corner of Woodland Ave and S Oakland Ave in Pasadena looks like it. Especially if you use the street view in Google. Even the lions are perched atop the columns at the gate. Looks like the mansion's had a makeover though.

Thoughts?

I'm going to guess somewhere in Bel Air, north of San Vicente because of the city street signs, huge front yard, and lighting.

Close but I don't think so. Too many differences like the driveway from the street to the gate, the top of the pedestals, and the lion's mane.

Hmm... perhaps.

Anyways, I looked it up on Zillow and it's for sale. It can be yours for about $53 million. That's only a mortgage payment of about $225k per month.

Who the hell lives/lived here?!

If the house number of 525 is accurate it's not in Bel Air or anywhere in the Hollywood Hills. In LA the east-west numbers start in downtown so the 500 block is 5 blocks east or west of Main or Central. And if the street is north-south that would be south of Wilshire Boulevard which is the 700 block.

San Marino's sort of flat and there are not that many Coast Live Oaks. My vote is Bel Air near Sunset. Although like BRinSM the mountain is throwing me off as well. I would need to go to that hood to figure out what it might be.
