That wouldn't normally affect Santa Clarita. Interstate 5 towards Gorman on to Bakersfield can get hit. The 14 out to the Antelope Valley/Acton/Soledad Canyon/Sierra Highway would be less likely to get it but it does.

Wow. Looks like we might need to reconsider. Maybe Burbank? Is it possible to get a good 3 bedroom townhouse or house in Burbank for $2100 or less?

You're still going to use the Sepulveda pass from Burbank to the Westside. You could drive through the city - Crescent Heights to La Cienega to Venice Blvd but I doubt that would be any better.

Why not move to the Westside? Culver City? South Bay? El Segundo? Your budget is on the tight side, but you know that. I'd rather spend $500 a month more to live in Culver City and not have to deal with the 405.

Best,

-R.

Here, this should make it look more of a realistic day on the 405.

Used to drive from Santa Clarita to downtown LA, was a heck of a commute. Then those darned bridges fell in that earthquake and my commuting days were over. Just a thought, lots can happen.

I remember when they fell in 1971 and again in 1994.

FYI, if anyone thinks "oh, I'll just use Sepulveda", the road to the right of the 405 in that picture is Sepulveda.

Great pic! I'm on there five days a week, but on a commuter bus, doing the caterpillar crawl... what a joke.

I just took another look at that pic again and I'd like to know where those ten lanes are as I can't recall that there are that many lanes on this freeway. Thanks.
