You've been told right, OP. $800. per is cheap anywhere decent in L.A. That area of Magnolia in N. Hollywood is nice enough, but N. H'wood can be not nice as well. Gotta be a little careful. Wilahemena? (fsp) the one? If they're sending her out here they should help her get situated. No other models they've sent out here they could hook her up with? As in a roomie?

I think I know from Studio City. My first thought was to recommend it. Then, I started thinking about the 'crime'. Shabby in Malibu = chic. 'Happening' in Studio City = sitting duck. Frankly, outside Beverly Hills (above Sunset) and The Malibu Colony, there's nowhere around LA I'd recommend a beautiful model live without roommates.

BTW, I've owned problem properties before, and wish you luck.

I do hope she is happy and enjoys living in the area she has chosen.

Nita
she will only be in LA for 6 months...then to Europe for other assignments and then off to Australia. Her agent has work for her NOW and clients who want to book her NOW and felt that her moving to CA for a few months will allow her to get a lot of work in... Just been booked for a New Fresca commercial.......... Fresca is making a come back this Summer as the Vintage all time refreshing drink.

I gather some of you don't know or understand the industry ..............

Let's calm down here. The friend found a place, no one here has questioned her attractiveness or ability to work, but the reality here is that while she might be doing wonderfully, she was working with an extremely low rental budget. This thread isn't about the industry; it's about affordable housing in LA. I think most people here are pleased to hear she found a great deal. She should feel good that was able to find something she likes in an area she likes at a great price. The general gist of the thread is that nice apartments at that price point in nice neighborhoods aren't easy to find. She got lucky.

And not to sound skeptical, because I know there are good deals out there to be found, but at least if she does discover it's not quite up to her standards she's only there for six months, and besides, sounds like she'll be busy with work, so won't be spending much time there anyway. And if it is perfect? Well, she'll just enjoy her time in LA that much more, and have that much more money to be able to save for Europe instead of putting towards rent!

if you are in the industry, you will be surprised of all the discount perks you get, Hotels, Beauty services, rentals just to name a few. You have to ask and prove that you are industry. Sure other industries have it as well.
