I always consider that others may benefit from reading my words of wisdom, irrespective if the OP ever comes back. The old OP is not a problem for me. Besides, I type fast.

We can track down who dug up the old OP and make them miserable...

As far as it being an old thread, the forum is still inviting comments because of how often it is read.

Strange about the roommate not paying rent. Every place I ever rented, I paid the landlord and the roommates paid me. Best I know, they will get the overdue rent & the 5 days of December rent.

I got stuck too when a landlord charged me for minor damage to a bed frame that was bent when I moved in. I never complained about it as it wasn’t important to me. I complained about plumbing from the day I moved in.

It’s worth a call to the state attorney general if they charge for damages If the renter still has documents proving the damages were already done. If not, better to move on & learn from it.

What goes around comes around. Crooks will eventually pay the price.
