It will help if you have been around a while - these pictures were taken in 1965
Can you tell me what corner this is on the Pacific Coast highway? I understand that it probably looks totally different now, but you can use the mountain views and proximity to the ocean as a guide, also, there is a median in this part of the road (could be gone also) and a gas station on the corner (which is also probably gone). It's driving me crazy not to know where this is - what cross-street that is the red car is coming down from?

Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think there is still a gas station on the corner now after 45 years :-) That corner does look a lot different now though. Too bad the area has been grown-up since then. Thanks again!

Note the factor of ten on the gas prices. That picture is probably mid 1960s. That's $0.31.9 cents a gallon. In 1998, when I bought my F-150, gas was $0.99/gal. So gas tripled between 1965 and 1998 and tripled again from 1998 to 2009, though the increase weren't linear, lots of ups and downs along the way.

Chevron gas, which has always been the most expensive. One of those lows was 1971-72, when I was paying 25.9 a gallon at the Flagg station in San Clemente.

That's because Chevron gas had F-310 in it. Remember those commercials with astronaut Scott Carpenter and the big plastic bags hooked up to the exhaust pipes of cars?

Google maps show it looking worlds different now. Some big condo or business plex hogging up the corner. A Chevron is still at the corner as well. Looks like the mighty fine looking burger hut may be gone as well.

Can you tell me what corner this is on the Pacific Coast highway? I understand that it probably looks totally different now, but you can use the mountain views and proximity to the ocean as a guide, also, there is a median in this part of the road (could be gone also) and a gas station on the corner (which is also probably gone). It's driving me crazy not to know where this is - what cross-street that is the red car is coming down from?
