I'm considering moving across the bridge from a Long Beach oceanfront rental to purchasing a condo for retirement in San Pedro's harbor front, ocean view Marina Pointe complex(22nd & Mesa area). My current residence is being gentrified. The new rent will be at least a $1000 more p/mo.when the new owner completes renovations next year. San Pedro has affordable ($335K) prices, proximity to Long Beach, L.A. family and the spaciousness I need for self and Mom. The only other, reasonably affordable ($500K maximum) safe, pleasant, convenient CA waterfront option is Port Hueneme's Surfside Condominiums. They are lovely but about $165 more expensive and much further away from family. I've visited San Pedro's downtown business district and Ports of Call area a few times but don't know much about the area.
Your comments and suggestions about your experiences will be helpful, especially if you are a retired, fit, single female senior.

Thank you.

Great first post!

Unfortunately, Neither Long Beach, nor San Pedro are anywhere near Monterey County.

At least you didn't necro a 13 year old thread, as so many "One post wonders" do...

I like "Pedro" over MDR as fuel is cheaper, for the boat, however.
