My friend isn't sure what to do. She likes urban areas with a lot of stuff available for singles and isn't into the burbs. She got a job offer in the 91381 (I guess Santa Clarita), and doesn't think she will find an area nearby she could see herself moving to. She doesn't want more than a 30 minute commute in traffic. Are there places nearby that are right for her?

There is that big valley just to the south of there.

There is Valencia next door and also some rentals in Stevenson Ranch itself. There is a mall and a lot of shopping places. Not particularly a singles area, but she could always drive somewhere else for the fun stuff. That would be less driving altogether. Otherwise anything to the South of 91381 is a reverse commute, so should not be that bad.

Right, but most of the valley I wouldn't exactly consider urban.

i used to be able to get from Playa Del Rey to Castaic in 45 minutes, so Sherman Oaks or Encino should definitely be within 30 minutes of Stevenson Ranch.

Well, it's more urban than Stevenson Ranch.

Yeah, I was going to suggest Sherman Oaks/Studio City/Encino. Especially since the friend will be doing the reverse commute, it should be ~30min.
