I know, times are tough, but I graduate this semester and plan on moving back to L.A. from out-of-state to start my career in architecture...(yikes)... I feel like L.A.'s design community and cultural diversity is conducive to my challenge.
Is it advisable? Can anyone give me an opinion? Is anyone interning or operating a firm? What's your point of view (being in L.A.)?

from what i understand many arch/design firms have laid off employees due to the diminished amount of work in the region. check out

I thought that many architecture jobs were now done in India, China, and some other far off lands. I say that knowing full well that we use a local company in Ventura CA. I was reading that many of these jobs can be performed far cheaper somewhere else and everything sent electronically back and forth.

My husband works in an architecture-related firm. Their LA office had laid off vast numbers of people, but in recent months have started to hire a few new people. It's not much, but at least it's better than it was this time last year.
