Right now a senior in LA can get $84 cityride bucks for $15 regular dollars.
Using the cityride bucks the senior can buy the monthly bus pass for $14 cityride bucks. The city is proposing to cease allowing the use of the cityride bucks to buy the monthly senior pass. In effect this means that now a senior is able to buy a monthly pass for what amounts to $2.50. The new proposal will force the senior to pay $14 a month. That means an annual increase for the senior from $30 to $168. Many seniors already living at poverty level count on the bus pass to take them to the grocery stores. I can understand that with the city financial crisis some increase is justified, for instance doubling the current $30 to $60 rather than the draconian 5.6 times increase.

Do you mean per trip or per month?

If it's per trip that's quite expensive. I ride several busses every day. that would cost me around $60 per month if it is per trip. As it is, no matter how much I ride I pay $2.50 a month.
