Hi All,

I'm taking a cruise out of LA down to the Mexican Riviera and back and have added a three day stay in LA to the end of my vacation.

I've never been before...what are the "must sees" that I can fit into three days??

I'll be staying at the Hyatt Regency on Long Beach so everything needs to be in easy reach of there (I won't be hiring a car).

I'm not really into museums or art gallaries or the like but want to get as much out of the time as possible so was thinking perhaps taking a couple of tours but needs advice on the best area's to visit.

Also perhaps a good beach to visit?

Thanks!

If you're staying at the Hyatt in Long Beach and don't want to rent a car, all you will be seeing is Long Beach. The good news is you are staying downtown and there is enough to see to cover 3 days. The Aquarium is there, two open air malls and the Shoreline Village. Within a very long walking distance or quick red bus ride there is Belmont Shore if you go the opposite way you have the Queen Mary or you could take a day excursion over to Catalina Island. Have fun.

Could do the aquarium, gondola ride through naples canals, shop/eat in belmont shore. Might be something interesting going on at the convention center or performing arts center. Could go to CSULB and watch a basketball game in the Pyramid if one is playing or take a walk through the Japanese Gardens. Laugh Factory is also downtown if you want to see a comedy show.

If you want a nice dinner I recommend L'Opera or 555.

I heard there were shuttles to disneyland from some hotels.

if you do want to spead a day in LA proper, you could take the blue line train and see downtown (not particularly tourist friendly and about 50 minutes each way). from there you can connect to the red line and go up to hollywood (an additional 20 minutes).

Yeah I was going to say, if you just want to see the main sights without renting a car, you could do it from Long Beach. It is just adding a lot of time to a commute. I have taken the red line into the blue line which takes you to Long Beach. You can take the subways to Downtown LA, China Town, Hollywood, and go back to Long Beach.
