Hi,

I have recently moved to LA from Australia. I work from home so meeting new people is really difficult!! I thought of joining a young business woman's group; however, can not seem to find any? Does anyone know of any? I have searched and searched but can not find anything!

Thanks!

Hi newtoLA. I'm new to the area as well and have also found it a bit challenging to meet new people. I don't know of any young business women's group offhand, but if you haven't seen this already, I'd recommend checking out the following site:

Meetups near Los Angeles, CA - Meetup.com

The site provides an opportunity to meet locals with similar interests. Also, anyone can start a new group, so if you don't see something that interests you, you're able to start your own group and promote it within the meetup community.

I had better luck with it when I lived in NY - more events to choose from and better turnout at events - though I've been to a few decent meetups in LA.

Hope this helps. Best of luck to you!

In Los Angeles, people usually meet their friends at work, school, church, self-help (AA and other 12-step), the gym and any other clubs or organizations that are about a specific interest. Dog parks are a great way to meet romantic hookups. I've met many people sitting in Coffee Houses.
Good Luck!

Craigslist.com is a good way.... lots of LA newcomers post classified ads looking for friends with the same intrests.... its a great site to find other things you need when arriving in a new city..... like free furniture!!! and jobs.... etc...

GOOD LUCK

Their are many areas to meet people in L.A,but you gotta go out more often, especially to areas where tons of people hangout, like at the Beaches during the Weekends.

Join YELP. Go to the Los Angeles forums. They always have some type of community hook-ups at restaurants, book clubs, parties, get togethers etc. If you are outgoing, YELP makes your social life infinitely easier.

Join or inquire at your local Chamber of Commerce, or Business District. here in Silverlake, we have both.

You can also google "toastmasters", there are several of those groups in the area.
