Unjust or not, I wouldn't want that in my neighborhood. If that makes me a bad person, then I'm a bad person.

Yes or No: That home would have zero effect on the buying decision by potential buyers to homes in that neighborhood?

Default if you can't beat 'em, make money off 'em.

Instead of trying to get that sober living house shut down, which you most likely will be unable to do, you should look into opening a liquor store as close as possible to it.

I agree with what Chichappens has said. Do you even know why the police were there? Did they come in with their sirens and lights a-blazin'? Maybe they were checking on someone.

Keep an eye on your kids and just let it be.

State and city ordinances are non-existent on this. They are all over the state (there's one in my neighborhood too). There is little to no oversight, licensing is minimal. Start with your community planning group, that's a first good step.

No buyer will know unless you tell them. I am sure there is no large sign up in front. It is lawful, no reason for a disclosure.

You want to really get scared, do a Megans law search on your neighborhood.

That's always been on my checklist, in fact, City-Data has those people mapped on it's website for any zip code.

Anyone paying attention will figure it out in about 5 minutes. It's a commercial use of residential property, it's usually multi-tenant in single-family homes, usually ex-cons. In my opinion the group home is not an appropriate for residential areas. The are undesirable but not always an actual problem. In our situation, they've actually been great neighbors, quiet, a few minor problems but quick resolutions.

Wow, what a great idea! Let's shut down a program that is helping people because you don't have a need for it right now! Karma's a b**ch. So it's ok that your rich neighbors are getting drunk and high in the house across the street (this is L.A., it could be happening), but it isn't ok that people are trying to clean up their lives in the sober living house? How judgmental and sheltered are you? Why don't you just move if you don't like it? I suggest you relocate to a rural area so you don't have to deal with neighbors at all.

I probably would consider it. Not the kind of neighbors I want if these activities are recurring in an unhealthful or neighborhood depreciating way.
