For the Liberal antidote to KKKFI, try KTLK 1150 AM. Many of their hosts are refugees from Air America. If you want to go even further left (like, to the left of Trotsky), try Pacifica Radio, KPFK 90.7 FM.

Good description of Pacifica.

KTLK has some good hosts. They used to be part of Air America but were able to survive its collapse because by the time Air America went under they used very little of its programming.

One big reason for liberal media's slow death is that the stuff doesn't sell with the majority of America. We are inundated with liberal idealism from every segment of the media and still they can't keep the viewing numbers up. For the LA area KFI gets the job done while the liberal shows just don't cut it in the AM world anymore.

I usually wind up listeniing to NPR.
Oh yes, KGO News Talk 810. lol. I totally grew up listening to that in Norcal. Now, I listen to KFI 640 only when Nooney's on. But ya, the right wing crap sucks. I listen mostly to online radio programs such as Oracle Broadcasting Network - The Home Of Cutting Edge Talk Radio! however, I don't endorse everything they say. it's varied though. lol.

Cool In an ideal world...

Assuming there actually IS a 'liberal media', dying or not: I think the reason why Air America died is that liberals just aren't very good at the sort of self-righteous, easy-answer, ranting and raving that right-wind radio has been perfecting for decades. It's not a elitist thing, they're just not very good at it and you MUST be to be able scream over the distorted guitars, car ads and traffic reports on AM radio.

It's a far cry from George Putnam who now seems to me more balanced and nuanced than anyone I've heard since on the right (Tony Blankley excluded).

And doesn't Fox 'News' represent a 'segment of the media'? They're pretty freaking popular, aren't they? Echo chambers on the left or right really don't get anything done, in my opinion. Don't we deserve better than that?
