I was curious to see what happened to the OP and found his last posts from September last year (2013). He was set on moving to Wilmington, NC.
Never been there myself, but have heard good things about it.
I was really hoping to find out that he had moved to Rio de Janeiro and was headlining as Carmen Miranda II in a drag show. Oh well, life can't always be that dramatic.

It looks like the OP made his peace with staying in North Carolina for a while; he did say that if he can ever work again he'd like to move back to California. I guess there's no place like home?
